In 2025, Utah Whitewater Gear is implementing two used gear programs to help Utah locals sell their used whitewater gear! Find the terms and conditions for our consignment services and trade-in program along with an application down below. Please note the consignment terms and conditions may vary for gear swap events.
Consignment Terms and Conditions
1. Gear Eligibility: The following shows what gear categories will be accepted/rejected from the consignment program:

2. Condition Requirements

- All gear must be clean and in good working condition.
- Inflatables must hold air without leaks.
- Frames and oars must be complete sets.
- Accessories will only be accepted as part of a full raft setup.
- Dirty or poor-condition gear will be rejected.
3. Condition Verification:

- All consignment gear will undergo a thorough inspection by UWG staff to assess their condition and resale potential.
- Any item deemed unsatisfactory for consignment based on its condition, safety, or usability will not be accepted.
4. Commission Structure: The Consignor can select one of the following payment options:

- Store Credit: UWG retains a 10% commission on the final sale price, with 90% provided as store credit.
- Check Payment: UWG retains a 25% commission on the final sale price, with 75% provided via check.
5. Pricing and Item Listing

- Gear will only be sold at the agreed-upon price listed during consignment.
- UWG reserves the right to recommend price adjustments based on market trends and the condition of the gear.
6. Unsold Gear Pickup

- Consignors must pick up any unsold gear between September 1-7 of the same year the agreement is signed during business hours (10 AM – 4 PM).
- If the Consignor is unable to pick up within this window, arrangements must be made with UWG in advance.
- Any gear not picked up during the specified time will be considered donated to UWG and may be sold or disposed of at UWG's discretion.
7. Additional Terms

- The Consignor affirms they are the legal owner of the gear and that it is free of liens or encumbrances.
- UWG reserves the right to reject any item for any reason, including condition, cleanliness, or unsuitability for resale.
- UWG is not liable for any perceived value beyond the agreed-upon pricing.
Trade-In Terms and Conditions
1. Program Scope: The UWG Trade-In Program is exclusively available for whitewater crafts, including the following:

- Hardshell kayaks
- Inflatable kayaks
- Packrafts
- Stand-up paddleboards (SUPs)
- Rafts
- Catarafts
- Full and complete setups for rafts and catarafts (including frames, oars, and other necessary components).
2. Eligibility Requirements

- Items must be in clean, working condition, free from significant damage, mold, or mildew.
- All crafts must include any essential parts necessary for standard operation (e.g., valves, thwarts, or attachments must be functional and present).
- Items with significant repairs or non-functional parts may be declined.
3. Condition Verification

- All trade-ins will undergo a thorough inspection by UWG staff to assess their condition and resale potential.
- Any item deemed unsatisfactory for trade-in based on its condition, safety, or usability will not be accepted.
4. Program Limitations
-
- UWG reserves the right to decline any trade-in offer at its sole discretion.
- Only crafts, as specified in Section 1, are eligible for this program. No other gear (e.g., paddles, helmets, PFDs) will be considered.
5. Trade-In Value
-
- Trade-in value will be determined based on the craft’s make, model, condition, and current market value.
- Accepted trade-ins will be credited toward the purchase of new or used gear available at UWG
- Trade-in credit cannot be redeemed for cash and must be used at the time of the agreement
6. Ownership and Documentation

- The seller must provide proof of ownership for the craft being traded in (e.g., a receipt, bill of sale, or valid ID).
- By participating in the program, the seller certifies that they are the legal owner of the craft and that it is free of liens or other encumbrances.
7. Finality of Trade-In

- Once a trade-in is accepted, all transactions are final. The traded-in item becomes the property of UWG.
- UWG is not responsible for any personal items left in or attached to the craft at the time of trade-in.
8. Legal Compliance

- This program complies with all applicable Utah state laws and regulations.
- Participants must be at least 18 years old to trade in a craft.
