143R
The 143R is versatile and an excellent option for people who need one raft to do it all. It’s not too big to run as a paddle boat with up to seven people and not too small to gear up and take friends on multi-day expeditions.
What makes the 143R Special?
- Big Stable Tubes: As an R “Round” Series raft, 143R raft tubes maintain their 20” diameter all the way around the boat, giving you the confidence and stability you need to plunge into rough water.
- Long Water Line: The 143R has a 109” waterline that will consistently keep the boat on track.
- Durable Design: One of the most common wear points on rafts are the seams. When you look at the 143R’s side profile, you can see that the grey fabric on the bottom of the boat continues toward the ends until it comes off the ground, virtually eliminating excess wear points on the bottom of the boat.
SELF-BAILING RAFT - FLOOR SYSTEMS
Two different types of self-bailing floor pockets are available for all AIRE brand rafts. The Regular Floor Pocket comes standard with all AIRE rafts while the Sealed Floor Pocket is optional ($620). |
The Regular Floor Pocket (RFP)
HOW IT’S BUILT: The (RFP) is constructed by sewing the PVC floor top and bottom to a zipper along the perimeter edge of the floor pocket. An air floor AIREcell is placed inside the pocket which keeps the floor rigid and buoyant. Drain holes are built into the bottom of the floor pocket.
DESIGN ADVANTAGES: Aids in tracking and stability. While on the river, water will enter the drain holes and add ballast to the boat. This extra ballast creates a low center of gravity which helps the raft ‘stick’ to the water and can sometimes help prevent a flip.
RECOMMENDED FOR: This design comes standard with all our rafts. Great choice for paddle rafts of all size

The Sealed Floor Pocket (SFP)
HOW IT’S BUILT: The (SFP) is constructed by welding the PVC floor top and bottom together along the perimeter to form a waterproof pocket. 1 watertight zipper is installed on the floor top to access the air floor AIREcell. 3 valves are installed. The inflation valve, the pressure relief valve and a burp valve that relieves air pressure caught between the AIREcell and the floor pocket.
DESIGN ADVANTAGES: The SFP does not take on any water to ballast, this will make the raft slightly faster and more responsive in whitewater. Owners don’t have to wait a couple minutes at the take out for water to drain out of the raft floor pocket. No need to rinse out the floor pocket after trips down silty rivers.
RECOMMENDED FOR: Good choice for rowing large, gear hauling rafts. Rivers that require portages. The SFP is a good option when mostly running silty rivers.
